Endoscopic bone fill in?

My son had an endoscopic cranectomy(?) 4 years ago when he was 3 months old. He recovered beautifully and his head shape is great. Unfortunately, our doctor has found a hole that did not fill in. He has been watching it for 2 years and found that it is growing with our son. Our doctor wants to fill it in using some type of bone growth substance. Not sure if it will be an overnight procedure or outpatient, but they will try to go through the previous incision. I do know that the team that did the original surgery (a pediatric neurosurgeon and a plastic surgeon specializing in cranio-facial surgery) will be working together again.

Now that my son is 4, the doctor wants to go ahead and take care of the hole before he gets really active with sports and other activities.

My question is, have any of you experienced this, and can you tell me what to expect? You can either post here, or email me at mjonesy37@gmail.com. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Ok as far as I know, the bone (apoxy) paste is typically done by endoscope and is not too invasive, HOWEVER if there is a large hole, you may want to look into a bone graft. Studies have come out that bone paste doesnt always give the results the docs want to see.

Be sure to ask alot of questions and also research whichever product they intend on using to fill in the gap.
