Dr. Mardini is a Professor of Surgery and Consultant in the Division of Plastic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. At present Dr. Mardini is Program Director, Division of Plastic Surgery, Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.
Dr. Mardini attended George Washington University for his undergraduate degree. He then proceeded on to the Medical College of Virginia where he obtained his medical degree. He completed his general surgery and plastic surgery residency at Georgetown University Medical Center under the direction of Dr. James Sitzmann and Dr. Scott Spear. He finished his training at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital where he completed a one-year Craniofacial Fellowship with Dr. Yu-Ray Chen and a two-year Fellowship in Reconstructive Microsurgery with Dr. Fu-Chan Wei.
Dr. Mardini’s practice focuses on microsurgical reconstruction. His primary interests are facial reanimation and our newly established composite tissue allotransplant Program. Dr. Mardini has published over 84 peer reviewed papers, 14 book chapters, and two books. Dr. Mardini is an editorial Board member and Guest Editor for Seminars in Plastic Surgery, Editorial Board Member for Microsurgery, and manuscript reviewer for Microsurgery, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Seminars in Plastic Surgery and Surgery Journals. He is a member of the American Society for Reconstruction Microsurgery and founding member of the American Society for Reconstructive Transplantation. Dr. Mardini received the Godina Traveling Fellow Award for 2011. Dr. Mardini is also a volunteer surgeon for several medical mission trips each year.
