Dr. Chaiyasate first will determine if the child has craniosynostosis or plagiocephaly. If craniosynostosis is confirmed, Dr. Chaiyasate will determine on a case to case basis whether to perform endoscopic repair of the craniosynostosis, or to use the open technique. He uses 3D CT with reconstruction to form a skull model for surgical planning. The children are followed closely by the team of specialists at the Beaumont Ian Jackson Craniofacial and Cleft Palate Clinic.
There is no cranial molding orthosis on site, however, there is one we work very closely with that is a few miles away from the hospital. The patients do go directly to our pediatric radiology department onsite for an x-ray if indicated.
