Dr. Uldis Bite is Professor of Plastic Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Bite was Plastic Surgery Residency Program Director in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.
Dr. Bite attended the University of Western Ontario for both his undergraduate and medical degrees. He completed his Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Western Ontario under the direction of Dr. Robert McFarlane. He then completed a two year fellowship in Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Mayo Clinic with Dr. Ian Jackson.
Dr. Bite’s practice focuses on pediatric plastic surgery (particularly cleft lip and palate surgery) and craniofacial surgery in both children and adults. He has held peer reviewed research grants in computer aided analysis and simulation of craniofacial operations. He is a senior examiner of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is on the program committee of the International Society for Computer Aided Surgery (a part of the annual Computer Aided Radiology and Surgery International Congress). He is also a member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has been a manuscript reviewer for many different plastic surgery publications. He has published a total of 60 peer reviewed publications. Over the past 27 years Dr. Bite has been a volunteer surgeon in numerous medical mission trips to Central and South America, Asia, Africa, and the former Soviet Union.
